Statement on SEMSA Contract in Lassen County — Clarification from Southern Cascades CSD EMS

Southern Cascades Community Services District Emergency Medical Services (Southern Cascades CSD EMS) acknowledges recent media reporting regarding Sierra Medical Services Alliance’s (SEMSA) decision to vacate its ambulance services contract in Lassen County. This announcement has generated community interest, and we want to provide clarity and avoid any potential misunderstanding about organizational affiliations.

Important Clarification
Southern Cascades CSD EMS is not affiliated with SEMSA. We have no contractual, operational, or administrative connection to SEMSA and are not involved in the recent decision by SEMSA to withdraw from its service agreement in Lassen County.

Background
According to published reports, SEMSA recently informed the Lassen County Emergency Medical Care Committee that it will not pursue a new five-year contract to provide ambulance services in Lassen County. The decision reportedly follows financial impacts tied to losing a separate contract in another region and the financial risk of continuing operations under a new multiyear agreement in Lassen County.

Southern Cascades CSD EMS Position
As an independent emergency medical services provider, Southern Cascades CSD EMS remains focused on its community mission. We reiterate:

·         We have no affiliation with SEMSA.

·         Any questions regarding SEMSA’s departure from its contract or their ongoing service commitments should be directed exclusively to SEMSA or Lassen County leadership.
